OP if you really like this girl that much, build a small cage and get her 3 chicks as a present about a month before you want to move in. by the time she has spent 4 weeks with some fluffy butts, she will be in love, and want more and you two can be chicken crazy like the lot of us!!

Tough call dude. I have thought long about what would happen if I had to depart with my flock. I am really attached to the little turds and they in turn have become VERY dependent on me to keep them and care for them.

I would co habit, yes, but ask your GF if she would not mind coming to your place. I realize there may be a conflict here because her home may be the best alternative.

Ask her point blank and explain to her your chicken addiction. ALL my family knows that I am stupid about my birds and they ALL know it brings me happiness and contentment. EVERYONE comments on this. The wife loves her mini horses and i have gone WAY out of my way to accommodate this addiction.

Tough call dude. Remember though, animal people NEED to be with other animal people. You will find your self unhappy and longing for your animals in the future, I KNOW as I have been there and done that.

Is she truly giving you an ultimatum? Or is the best place for you two to live together a place that the chickens can't go? Anyone that gives you an ultimatum would make me take a step back. Relationships are about compromise. After all, you want each other to be happy , right?
Any man that would expect me to give up my dogs for him, would be shown the door.

LOL... So true. I second Al.

But I do disagree with one thing.... the darn shoe thing... forget it. I find shoes that are still in boxes in my gf's trunk of her car... she lives with me and she hides them! I get so mad because she will wear them once, then on the rack they go! I have learned there are battles I can win... and some I can't... shoes I can't.

I have 3 pair, my flip flops,(which are MINE, TYVM) my boots, and my New balance slide on's which everyone thinks they can wear because, "They're Mom's shoes! "

If you have women's size 11 W, shoes lose thier appeal very quickly in a house full of growing young men.. Now they don't even fit my feet right!!

As far as the ultimatum...with what you have posted, don't even think about it. I had an ex who "loved" my animals until I had to get away from him for emotional abuse. Then, he couldn't stand them, and insisted I "had" to take the poor animals and him back because they missed me. After it was clear that I wasn't coming back, he took them to the pound after the divorce happened and I was all the way across the country.

You love your chickens, go love on them!! If she loves you for YOU, she'll love the chickens too! If she can't compromise on something, I'd have serious doubts about a marriage that will last because of contant ultimatums.

Spoken like a true warrior, I too pick the battles I can win and after 25 yrs of marriage I have gotten pretty good at pickin some winners LOL. I have been blessed with a non shoe fetish woman LOL.

In the trunk of her car........... oh man she's got it bad LOL.............
