One of my chickens is wandering around the yard in the rain. There must be some kind of bug or worm that comes to the surface when the ground gets wet. She's really into it. All other chickens hightail it to cover when it rains. It's really fascinating to watch all of the different personality traits these critters develop.

That's funny, I have one that does the same thing. They are hilarious. It is so true, they all have their little things that they do. They are as different as we are.

One of mine figured out she could camp out at the side of the house and pick off stink bugs. Another two come running when I'm moving/spreading dirt and are right there with me (in my face almost) looking for stuff. They climb right up in my dump trailer when it's tilted. I have to wait until they come down before I can dump.

Rain can definitely get the bugs moving...about half of mine will stay out in the rain.

Chickens aren't dumb, they know theye are treats to be had and are actually very well equipped for rain....even when the outer layer starts to look soaked the under layer is good....when it gets too much they get under a cover, fluff up, dry out and preen...ready for the next round

I'll never forget the first time my birds got 'soaked' in the rain.
Went in to lock up after dark and some of them looked like the proverbial 'drowned rat'.
I put my hand up under their feathers, nice and warm and dry.
I don't worry any more but still SMH.

And then there's my sweetie who always shows up at the kitchen door begging for dry cat food. She's literally jumping up in the air trying to get to it before I can get my hand to her. A junkie couldn't look in more dire need for a fix than she does for hers.
