I had a weasel/ermine decimate my flock. He got thru a quarter sized hole that he made with his teeth in steel screen mesh that covered a vent in the top of my coop, 8 ft up.
So, if you have weasels in your area, get heavy duty 1/2" square hardware cloth for everything.
