Chicken Wire, Yea or Nea?

As far as known predators. I know we have Raccoons, Skunks, Dogs including my own as well as the occasional neighbors dog that gets out and hawks. I am not concerned with the hawks and my greatest concern is the raccoons and skunks. I am not sure just what might be drawn to our yard with the addition of birds. I know Coyotes are commonly seen not far from here. I live in town and the coyotes would have to travel several blocks through houses to get here.
Looks like I will be trading in the chicken wire though. I am pretty well convinced it will not hold up to attempts to break in and I don't usually make plans that something will not happen. I pretty much know that sooner or later something will test my design. It looks to me like chicken wire cannot be expected to pass that test. I read the comment somewhere else that said chicken wire keeps chickens in but not predators out. I prefer the no ability to reach in of the hardware cloth as well. from what I can tell the Jungle Fowl like to run around on the ground but perch up high. And as a few of you point out. $40 is not a lot for the insurance it gives. Thanks everyone for the input.
