Hi, I recently 'aquired' a chicken from a chicken farm, she is a layer but when plucked from the floor she had just about been killed off by the other chickens that were in her barn 12000 of them altogether. Anyway she looked really really bad, they had started to kick dirt over her and she had open wounds all over her. I brought her home and put her in solitary confinement, after a few days her eyes still hadn't reopened, her skin around her eyes had gone from pink to dark green and then back to pink, she didn't move much but i offered her food and water. Anyway I decided she needed to open her eyes as she'd improved so much, I figured she wanted to live, so we gently bathed them and peeled back the light scab that had formed, and voila she could see again (it probably didn't help we did it on a sunny day as she blinked alot!) Well she's gone from strength to strength and is feathering up nicely, the only problem is she can't walk really, she can get round her rabbit run, I put her in and out of bed at night etc, one foot is fine, but the other seems to be curled under her. My question is, does anyone know anything I can do to help her fix her foot? I don't think I should keep her alive if she can't walk, but I don't want to give up too soon either, she is eating and drinking well, enjoys sunbathing and stretching her wings and feathers out in the sun. Any ideas?
