CHICKEN WITH CLOGGED NOSE + EYE MOVING (please help)

I just ordered that Tylosin. I’ll have to wait until it’s delivered on Feb 3rd though. Hopefully it isn’t too bad by then.

I’ll keep you all updated.

Again, thank you.
Keep us posted.

I'd still work slowly on trying to remove the material from the nostril. I'm sure it's not fun for her, but just take it slow and in stages, work on it, then let her have a long break.

I’ve been slowly picking away at it.
I tried to get her mouth open but these were all of the pictures I could get. Nothing looks out of the ordinary.View attachment 4037652
I was thinking those tiny tweezers might help you make some progress. The hydrogen peroxide should soften the outside a little to make this possible. I see redness that makes me think an infection could be brewing, too. Please do keep us posted! Wishing you well.

Sorry to hear about your girl! I would suggest to stop picking at the scab at the moment, it looks like it's causing some bleeding. Do you have Tylan on hand? It might be an upper respiratory infection building up in the sinus cavity- which would put pressure on the eye and could cause some swelling. Is a vet an option? If not, see if you can begin her on Tylan and give it a week or so to see if there's any results or improvement.

You can clean the scab on her nose using a warm washcloth to gently clean away the junk. As that breaks down, a dulled tip toothpick or ear cleaner can be used to very gently begin clearing the inner nostril- though I suggest having a second pair of hands to help keep her still. If you see any blood, stop, clean her up and leave it be. If you have any betadine or chlorhexidine, you could dilute it and dab some on with a q-tip just to help keep any further bacteria out.

Keep us updated on how she's doing!
CloneFly, what to you think about sharp tiny tweezers instead of a q-tip or a toothpick? I agree that a second person to help hold this girl is the way to go, but I wonder if the q-tip or the toothpick might impact it more. Sad situation for sure.

What a pretty girl and you are doing a great job caring for her. Everyone has given you great advice. I'm hoping the best for her.
Recognizing that money is limited, for future reference and to keep on hand, you may also want to order some Amoxicillan and or DoxyBird which can be found at

to help treat infections. The administration instructions are indicated on the products. Experts here can also help with that.

Thank you! I cleaned it off and sanitized it the best I could before sending her to bed.

I don’t have Tylan on hand.I do have VetRX and Banixx on hand though.

The vet isn’t much of an option. I’m still a minor and have little in my savings account. As of now I want to see if I can help it. But, if things get worse then I’ll gladly go into debt for her.
Before school tomorrow I’ll take a look at it and make sure it’s not worse. And I’ll go ahead and order Tylan now.

Thank you all for your help, you have no idea. ❤️
No problem, I've been in a similar situation before (#broke). So it's good to learn how to do things yourself- the skills comenin handy later on in life too!

Those might work, but to be perfectly honest, they sometimes make things more difficult in regards to "digging out" gunk. OP should definitely try both though- whichever does the job best, or even switch between. Just make sure whatever you use is sanitized/clean to prevent further infection :)

Round 2 Today. Here she is before I began picking again.

I’ve made a careful effort not to agitate the scab, she’s having a snack right now and wandering around my house.

I’ve taken to small sharper tweezers instead of a toothpick and progress is much faster.

Still acting her normal self.

I will add though, during cleaning her nose her eyes did produce like 3 super tiny bubbles. I also tried to give her some of the VetRX.

I’ll keep you all updated.
