Chicken with egg shell stuck in vent!!! I NEED HELP NOW!!!!!!!

You are a great human. You are trying so hard to save her I hope she pulls thru. She is very lucky! I love this site a lot of great people willing to help out in times like these. They understand what it is like to love a chicken. You and your bird have been in my thoughts all day. I am glad you both are still holding on.
Thank you so so much! You don't understand how much that means to me. She is still haning on. I sure hope she pulls through. :hugs 😌

@picklestheduck how is your chicken doing?
She is still hanging in there. She likes to scratch around in her shavings before she lays down and will peck around. I sprinkled some meal worms on them for her to find. I noticed she hadn't seemed to be drinking a whole ton on her own, so I bought some fruit punch Gatorade and she seems to love it. Whenever I give her a pill I notice her tongue is stained red and I just found her drinking a few minutes ago. I also left plain water and her save a chick electrolyte and probiotic water. She continues to poop regularly. Its usually more runny but there is always some solid in it. Last night she had a very nasty brownish orange one. We took her out into our secure dog run away from all the other chickens but we did bring in our buff orpington Mango who is at the lowest of the pecking order. Karen seemed to perk up and ate a few pieces of grass and walked around some. She was definetly still not herself but I struggled to catch her afterwards. One thing that really surprised me is when I brought her out, the entire flock came running to see her. She stood at the gate quietly watching her sisters and the rooster. One hen was trying so hard to get in. Karen just stood waiting at the gate begging to go out, but I wouldn't let her. I give her antibiotic and calcium twice a day. How long do I keep this up and how long do I keep her inside? I love caring for her and will continue to do so but I can't exactly keep her inside forever. She has seemed to get used to our routine though. I pull her out of the crate and sit on the floor and set her on a towel in between my legs and I gently but firmly hold her with my knees and open her beak and give her the pill. I will put a drop of water or gatorade on her beak in the crack where her top and lower beak meet so the liquid goes inside, and she will swallow. Drop by drop we do this. She loves grapes and lettuce and will gobble them up when I bring them in. Then once I am done, I open the crate door, and slowly slide the towel over to the door ( all the while her bobbing her head like she were walking) and she will climb back into the crate all by herself. She will gently "talk" to me sometimes by clucking when I'm in there. She also loves when I leave the curtain open so she can watch the little birds and planes fly over. I live only a few miles from our airport so planes go over all the time. Any ideas as to when the eggshell might come out? Will it EVER come out? Another one of my concerns is if I were to let her out, and the rooster tried mating with her I would be afraid that it could really hurt her or mess something up. What should I do? Also here are a few pictures of her. She is the golden laced wyandotte.

The first one in shavings was a day or two ago and then the pictures of the ones in the dirt were last night. Some of her poops almost look like runny egg yolk sometimes? I don't know maybe her body is just off from the whole ordeal.

She is a beauty! I am glad she is doing ok . I am assuming 10 days of antibiotics. I too wonder what will happen to the broken shell. Will it pass or break down ? I guess time will tell. A chicken diaper to deter the rooster maybe? I bet she is missing being out with the flock if she is feeling better, thats a good problem to have!

Chickens mate externally. He could harm her by jumping on her maybe if she's very weak or messed up inside. The sugar water may be causing diarrhea. If she's amenable to eating, it's best to get her back to water and her normal diet as soon as possible.

Right thats why I'm concerned. She hasn't been eating or drinking a whole ton, so I just started gatorade late last night after she had that diarrhea.

Karen has been doing better. Shes getting energy back and fights me more when given meds. She is currently in our fenced in dog yard with 3 other hens and is SO happy. She is BEGGING to be let out to free range. The rest of the flock is in the run so she would only be with three hens. Is it a bad idea to let her out? What do yall think?

I’m not sure about letting her be with the rest of the hens so I’ll leave that to the more experienced chicken keepers but I just wanted to say that’s great news!!! Thank goodness she’s feeling better. You’ve done an awesome job taking care of her over the past week. ❤️
