I went through a similar situation this spring with a hen in another persons coop and two young girls. It took my little Hoppy (now my chicken!) about two months to recover, and she still walks and runs with a severe limp. I believe it must have been a fracture or break of some sort near her hip based on her recovery and the way she walks now. Her leg clearly still bothers her in very cold and wet weather, but it bears weight and she gets along fine. (She can still have a happy and fulfilling life is my key point!) she looked particularly sore one cold morning so she got a couple hours in my home and some mealworms and egg snacks until she perked up.
Hoppy laid the first four days or so after her accident, then took a break for several months. I think it was the stress of needing to heal her leg. She started laying again regularly near the end of summer/early fall, then stopped for molting late fall.
Good nutrition is essential for healing, so make sure she is only getting “good” treats during this time. Best wishes for your girl, it sounds like things are going well!
