Chicken with injured comb

How do I keep my chicken from scratching a wound that I finally got to stop bleeding... she just recovered from a hard molt and had either been knocked down off her pedestal or the rooster was super excited to have her back. I know she needs to be separated to avoid canabalism... but how do I stop her from scratching it while I’m gone?

Maybe you could rig up a chicken e-collar?

Hmmm... that’s a good idea. First thing that comes to mind is toilet paper roll, would hand to adjust lol

You could take a paper plate, cut a square out of it. Make a "funnel" with the square and cut holes around the small end. Lace it with string. Put it around the chicken's neck and then tie it.

Like you do with the cheap plastic e-collars for cats and dogs.

This is Scratch. Her name is Scratch because she likes to scratch herself to death when she's even slightly injured. She's worn the hobbles of shame on several occasions now, but it's the only way I've been able to successfully manage her injuries. She's all healed up and doing well for the time being!

I tried this with Scratch, but she would just walk backwards into walls. I think it depends entirely on the chicken.
