Chicken with large head wound after being attacked

Thank you so much for the support. While I was at school, I pestered my dad enough to leave work for a moment to come home and take care of her. I only hope he did it as fast and painless and he could have. If we ever have chicken questions and problems again, I'll be sure to come back here. You've all been really helpful!!
You did a good job taking care of her, I know it is sad, but she is no longer in pain.

We would love for you to stick around. As @staceyj mentioned, we have quite a few young chicken enthusiasts here on BYC, they participate in the forums, help people with baby chicks or hatching, they also hang out in the "social" sections as well, so you may want to check out the "role-play" if that's something that interests you. If none of that suits you, then that's fine too, we are here more than happy to answer questions or give you suggestions when you need help.

I hope your other hen recovers quickly and all goes well for you.

Update:
We left chicken #2 back in the coop and blocked up any holes and entrances an animal could get through. I woke up this morning to find her missing. The only way in and out of her coop is by opening the locked door from outside. I'm so devastated. I can only suspect someone is doing this doing this on purpose for some reason, or I'm just missing something big.

Oh my! @luvsungs!

This is terrible news.

I doubt it’s a creep, although everything is possible, I think you’re missing something.

Do you know what kind of predators are in your area?
Some can fit through an opening less than an inch in diameter, BUT A CHICKEN CERTAINLY CAN’T!

Without stating exactly where you live, can you give us an idea of the general geographic area?

example: I am in southeast North Carolina.

Most of the feathers were in a corner behind the coop. I also found some blood or flesh. I'm already at school, but I'll send some picture when I get home. I'm living in Michigan.

I'm just not sure how any animal could have gotten in and then taken 6 medium sized chicks and a full grown chick through a hole maybe the size of a ruler, if not smaller. Unless I'm missing a huge hole they can get through.
Okay. The feathers left behind means predator not creepy human.

Maybe where that gap is the wood is flexible enough to bow out or in.
Predators are smart and determined and once they find a food source they’ll come back again.
Some people put out trail cams to find out what is visiting their coop.
Raccoons are crafty and strong and can reach through a small opening a pull like the dickens.

You try to concentrate on school today.

When you get home, take some pictures and think about posting a new thread in the predators and pests forum for all the people who know everything about chicken thieves to help you figure out what is stealing your chickens!

This is a terrible setback I know, and breaks your heart for sure, but with guidance from all the chicken experts here you can try again if you’re up to it and your parents say okay, after you get the kinks worked out of your defense system.
Here’s 100 hugs to get your day going. :hugs
Pay attention, learn a lot!
