I have an almost four week old silkie who I discovered has a large swollen bald spot on the back of their neck. It's looks and feels to be swollen skin, but it has appeared abruptly today. It may have been present before today at a smaller size, but had down covering it.
It was bleeding due to her scratching at it, but has not been touched by the other chickens. I'm going to be blue coating it soon, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with whats going on. The biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is the best way to stop her from scratching at it and making it bleed more. Other than that, shes eating and drinking well with no other symptoms than being annoyed at the bump on her neck.
Update: I have put a little masking tape on her big toes to keep her nails from scratching the spot and causing any more bleeding.
