I seen a snake near the coop. I went to go get a shovel to “take care” of it, but by time I returned it was gone. It looked like it was a rat snake but I’m not certain. When closing up the coop for the night, I noticed one of my hens had a snake bite on her wing. You could see the two fang punctures. It’s right on the joint part of her wing - if that make since. I took her off the roost and cleansed it with peroxide and applied a large amount of triple antibiotic ointment. The area looked pretty bad. It was like a discolored flesh ball.

Can chickens survive snake bites from non venomous snakes. I’m worried about infection.

She is alive and well. I didn’t get any pictures of the wound but it is as pretty bad looking for a few days but didn’t seem to bother her.
