chicken with swollen cheeks and eyes...what can it be?

Resperatory definatly. Holding a cool then warm compress on the eyes and face (taking turns cool then warm) will help make her more comfortable. Make sure she keeps drinking as sometimes the eyes get so swollen they can't see to get to the water and food. They need to keep hydrated especially to get over this cold/flu. She should be fine just needs some extra TLC to get through it. It's fairly common.

Thanks everyone. I didn't make it to TSC today, terribly busy day and sad one too. I went out and checked on the sick hen and let everyone out, including my daughters favorite bantam hen that free ranges. Well, when my daughters headed out with the water, they saw a hawk attack her and carry her off. I feel horrible since I let her out a little earlier than normal.
