Chicken with THICK legs

Are her hock joints swollen as well? Mycoplasma synovitis (MS) can cause swollen ankles and hocks. That is a bacterial infection of the joints, and may cause mild respiratory symptoms, or none at all. Osteopetrosis or marble leg syndrome is a type of lymphoid leukosis, and the legs are thick and hard. Is this hen mixed with any other breeds, such as a cornish? Yeah definitely looks like swollen hocks. 😞
 
Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) and mycoplasma synovitis (MS) are fairly common in some backyard flocks. MS is less common. Those are lifelong diseases, and survivors are carriers. Testing is something that you might want to do to confirm it. Here is some more info regarding MS:
