We have a 3 year old production red that has been pooping white runny poop. She still is eating/drinking but not laying any eggs. Sometimes we will find her with her tail down and seems kind of lethargic. We had another production red die a couple of weeks ago and she also had white runny poop. We thought maybe worms were the cause of death. We treated for worms for the other birds by using safeguard for 5 days after the other bird died. We did one dose, a day in between, another dose, a day in between and then three days in a row. We just forgot to do it for five consecutive days. The current production red has laid really thin shelled eggs when she has laid them. This has been happening for a long time. Two weeks ago she had a broken egg in her that came out after a bath in warm water. She had a poopy bum so that is why we were cleaning her and also to check for any irregularities. She seemed better after the egg came out. Not sure if it came out because of the water or if it just came out. She has not laid any eggs since then that we are aware of. We gave her another dip in warm water today thinking maybe she had another broken egg in her. But no egg came out just white runny poop. Her bum is not red, and her vent seems normal with no signs of infection or vent gleat. No signs of lice or mite bites. It is not hot here so she isn't overheating. She just doesn't seem normal and her poop is runny and white. Any idea of what this could be and what I can do about it?

Start giving her calcium citrate with vitamin D.

It sounds like an internal infection. If other eggs have broken inside or didn't develop shells that could also cause an infection.

An antibiotic like Baytril might help. Acidified Copper Sulfate will help with an e coli infection. I'd just treat all of them. 1/4 tsp per gallon of water. for 7-10 days. Make a fresh batch daily.

The Reds are prone to reproductive infections due to being bred for maximum egg production.

Thanks for responding! Where could I find Baytril and Acidified Copper Sulfate? I have a TSC near me.
