Chicken with worms on poop

Good stuff.. and that is what I found using chemical deworms on dogs and cats.. They became ill.. Think Chemo.. Poison in poison out. DE is more of a deterrent unless you have the time.. I would say a major infestation may require chemical dewormer.. The way DE works, is it's like rolling in broken glass to you or me, eventually you'll bleed out. Only works on soft bodied vermin of small stature. Use in the garden if you can catch in larval stage.. It's mined microscopic sea creatures..
So would they eat the DE?

Mix it in their feed, they don't get to choose. They eat dirt all day anyway, and that is all DE is, dirt. Try some, it won't hurt. Tastes like dirt.. Yum!
Yooo I’m having having some mixed feeling now one could make them ill in the long run and the other could hurt their respiratory system(from what I have seen in other posts)

We're not talking nuclear fallout here.. just dust. I've lived through dust storms, interesting.. Not expecting a mighty Hi Ho Silver in a cloud of dust. Just occasional sprinkling around the coop, in the run and even nest box.. not all the time, just occasional. You could mix it in food every time if you want.. There is no harm in that.. The argument is when it is wet as in their belly's or crop. It becomes less effective, because it's wet. Like mud as compared to sun baked dry.. I get it, but have had good success doing it Natures way.. Just takes longer, like your Grandpa's stories. :old

Postscript: Read the instructions on the Dewormer.. no eggs I believe are safe and so forth and so one.. Unless you a gambling man or woman, have at it. I prefer Black Jack and Texas Holdem', in which case. Bring your wallet and or purse, don't worry, it'll be lighter when you leave.

It's much simpler to just deworm once than fooling with DE dusting, making sure the birds don't inhale it, etc. My mom has me dust the food with DE because she prefers to use it, but my chickens got worms anyway, even with DE in the coop and feed and ACV in the water. I wish DE was a natural dewormer, but it really isn't. Some people treat it like pixie dust.

Supposedly safeguard has no egg withdrawal due to short amount gaven to the .454mg/lb

Also, FWIW, I used safeguard for my 3 hens 3 months ago and they responded very well to it. I definitely recommend it.

ETA: I did not do an egg withdrawal.

Whenever I dust my chickens with poultry dust I cover their head and nostrils and let them breath when I’m moving between the wing and butt
