Chicken won't stop cheeping!

if he is eating and drinking and is warm enough.... then yeah.. he needs friends.. he is calling for MAMA (and siblings) they make that noise when they are LOST and looking for the "group"

When I put it in the box alone, I gave it water and food and it did drink and eat it but started cheeping shortly after

Ok, I have put the annoying chick back with it's siblings/friends (aka the other chickens).

After checking for the obvious like food, water, butt pasting, temprature, company, ie. other chicks. Put it with a hen to see if she would adopt it. It might want a momma to hide in the feathers. Adult hens will peck it on its head to keep it quiet, and to keep it under them.

I have a 7" x 12 " kitchen counter top wire mesh shelf which I put a small towel over to let the chicks hide under. My Faux hen.

I had a chick like yours and nothing I did seemed to help. It eventually calmed down but was very skiddish of any little thing out of the ordinary. She ended up being very broody prone and a good mother.
