Chicken wormer...

Master S.M.C :

im not sure but you could check mypetchicken or something for small water heaters

????? LOL I just want to know what type of worming meds are best for adding to water to worm chickens/ducks/peafowl. LOL

Ah, what a difference a vowel makes when reading (LOL because that sort of thing happens to me too all the time

The only really broad-spectrum wormer I know of is ivermectin, and it can't be put in water, it has to be individually dosed. If you do this when they're asleep on the roost at night (wear a headlamp) it is quite easy and unstressful, and you can pretty easily make sure each bird gets dosed once and only once. Well unless you have like 50 chickens in a pen, then it would be harder

The only other option would be "natural" type products, but honestly there is no good tested evidence for their efficacy, especially if you are trying to get rid of a known worm problem as opposed to preventing one from getting started. So if you KNOW, or are pretty sure, you have worms, I would use ivermectin or something like that to get the job done.

Good luck,

Pat

The valbazen is given orally. You give 1/2 cc for standard size chickens and 1/4 cc for bantams.
There is a suggested egg withdrawel of two weeks.
I believe Ivermectin is given topically. Do a search here on BYC, keyword: ivermectin.

I use Ivermectin to prevent heartworm in my dogs as opposed to getting the expensive stuff from the vet (including the test for heartworm). I use 1cc of 1% mixed with 9cc propylene glycol and then utilize a formula that gives me the correct dosage based on the wt of each dog. This is given orally. The ivermectin I use is the injection type for cattle and sheep yet it is given orally to dogs. I am wondering what type of Ivermectin and concentration is safe to give the chickens? Also, how old should the chickens be and how often should I worm them?

Ivermectin can be given orally using horse paste wormer or topically using the cattle stuff.

Use the 'search' function for a buncha threads on doseage and withdrawal time and so forth and so on.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
