Chickenguard Malfunction

Google brought me here, I had the same problem, the door is jamed and won't calibrate, after trying so many things, the only thing worked for me is: During calibrartion I pused the close button and pulled the string down firmly until I got about 10 inches of the string down, then it worked perfectly.
I know this is an old thread, but in case someone lands here like myself

Old thread I see but i am having same issue. I came out to find the door half closed with the door error. I installed new batteries and re calibrated door, worked for the moment then did not close up at night and displayed the same error message. I have emailed @chickenguardusa twice with no response. I have the extreme model and its less than one year old.

Same issue with my Extreme. The door calibration was a constant error and I could never trust the door was completely closed. The unit lasted only a couple years. I now buy the cheapest opener I can find and frankly I'm not see much difference other than $100 in price.

I have the same chicken-guard for 7-8 years now.
After 4-5 years it malfuctioned because the thread 🧵 got wet after a storm.
I took it of the wall to dry inside the house and rewinded the thread again. With some help from the seller , I could make it work again.

I put my Chicken guard inside the coop/run under a roof where it gets enough light to function on daylight. So normally it doesn’t get wet.

I have a question with one of the automatic door openers from your company. It appears to be opening on it's own. I close my chicken door manually and I also open it the same way. But it's been opening by itself lately. And I have tried to set the timer but your instructions are not very clear. It states about a blue light turning on but there is no blue light listed on the panel. So why is it opening on its own.

@Annieblue or any other posters on this thread sell automatic door openers.
The idea of automatic door openers is that they open / close by itself so you don’t have to get up early every day and need to be at home to close when its getting dark, to keep the flock safe at night.

Most automatic pop doors open /close on a time schedule or/and by light intensity. Ask the retailer for better instructions.
