A person my sister met yesterday, a lady who keeps chickens, told her that February 15th is a "special day" that marks a transition into Spring and therefore behavioral changes.

Any truth to this?

I've never heard such a thing. Of course you are in Canada, right? Could be something in "your" country maybe. In the USA the first day of spring is March 20th. It's the vernal equinox. If you find out more, I love to know! My egg production is finally picking up again but didn't happen until very late February. ;)

My hens egg production came back online Groundhog day. I think they heard it was going to be an early spring.
7 eggs that week Sunday through Saturday.
14 the 2nd week, 16 the 3rd week.
5 of 7 are laying. One is finishing molt. The other is retired.
So there could be something to February 15th here in the Northern Hemisphere. GC

You think your chickens heard about an early spring from Punxsutawney Phil? Could be I suppose! We are having an early spring no doubt about that. Also, most "traditions" like this are based on very old historic events! I'm happy to hear that you keep your "retired" hens. I do too! Enjoy spring!! :hugs

Eh, 'Wives Tale'?

Tho the days are increasingly longer,
marked on Feb 2nd by Imbolc(half way between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox).

Never heard anything about Feb 15th before....maybe Imbolc is just later up der? :gig
