I think my chickies look like dinos. God forbid the things were any bigger. A three foot tall chicken would take great pleasure in going after people.
I think cloning a mammoth is not too far off. They have a fairly closly related living animal in the elephant, good DNA from arctic samples and a lot of experience in mammal cloning. I think the slow reproductive rates of elephants would make it more difficult.
I think it would be cool to see animals from the past; but I have some concerns about the whole cloning of extinct animals. First I think that for most of the animals, the habitat is gone or changed too radically; secondly, we should try to preserve animals and plants that are currently endangered. Third, I read Jurassic Park, and the thing that scared me the most was the shear ignorance of the scientists involved. Yes, I know it was fiction, but who would be behind it? The whole owning an entire gene line kinda creeps me out too, because you know it would be patented.
Still, wouldn't it be cool to see passenger pigeons or dodos. They were wiped out in recorded history, and theoretically would be easier to find DNA for.
