Chickens & a pond?

I lost a 3 month pullet to drowning. The container was a large plastic tub with vertical sides, set in the ground. I didn't witness it, but as others have stated it's probably because she couldn't climb out.

I still have the poor girl, she's buried in the garden pushing up daisies now.

Our's drink out of our small pond sometimes, but selfom pay any attention to it. Never had one drown.

I think you have to be careful of chicks.
A neighbor of ours had chicks and ducks. The local kids swaped some chicken eggs with the Duck eggs and when they hatched well they decided to "follow" mummy duck to the pond - she was fine sadly the chicks were not!!!!! I guess they really did think they were ducks????

I have a fish pond in with my chickens. Sometimes one will fly over the pond to beat the rest to the feed. I've never had a chicken die in it.
