So I went out to let open the pop door this morning as is my usual routine any where between 7-9am and all the girls were still perched up on the highest roost where they sleep. Usually by that time they been off the roost since first light scratching around in the coop while they wait to go eat breakfast.

I thought that was odd but dismissed it.

Then they were even very hesitant to come out the pop door once it was opened. They just sat at the opening inside the coop peaking outside.

It’s very windy today so I thought the wind had them a little spooked bcs the acorns from the oak tree they’re under is hitting tin roof of the run and coop?!

Ah, but then I see what may be causing the unnecessary alarm!

The evil, diabolical, menacing, dangerously lurking BASKETBALL that is sitting about 15ft from the run!!

I kicked it out of their view and they all came happily out to eat breakfast.

And THAT’S why people associated being scared to being a ‘chicken’! My Lord! Lol!!

On second thought. It may be a combination of the attack basketball AND the acorns hitting the roof of the coop. Bcs they all came out UNTIL another acorn hit and they all went scurrying back inside the coop! Hopefully they’ll get over this bcs their food is in the run! Lol

Ar first mine are a little leery of the ‘giant green monster o’ killer death’ when I fire it up. There is a copious amount of chirping and wing flapping in an attempt to run and hide the chicken mower id doom! Then they settle down and chill out.

They’ve also seemed to settle down with the wind now. Lol
