I have a mixed up breed of chickens 5 bantams and 2 polish regular size hens, I also have 2 Khaki Campbell ducks male and female. Ducks as I have learned are incredibly messy, chickens no so much. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to keep clean water for the chickens the ducks could care less. I have tried poultry nipples even going as far as picking up the chickens and sticking their beeks on them, they still have no clue. I took out all other water access and they just got thirsty so I felt bad for them and put the other back in. All my chickens let me pick them up and follow me around the coop. The ducks follow but don"t like to be picked up.

They would probably be better off separated. Ducks love splashing and getting wet. Chickens do not. Also duck internal anatomy is much different than a chickens.

A drake attempting to breed chicken hens can kill them or damage them severely .

This was great help thanks. I have everything ok except my duck ratio one female to one male. I'm going to try the beak cups for the chickens and get the ducks a separate water system. One other question I have a 3 month old rooster will my hens ever accept him and quit running him off or do I need a new rooster. He hatched Easter Sunday when I only had 2 hens now I have 6 hens. Nobody likes him and he flies in and out of the coop at times. Will he ever learn? He crows and does everything else a rooster is supposed to do
