Chickens and cats

When they were younger, our cat Jebus used to love just randomly running at the chickens to get them to run off...never hurt any of them, but annoyed them greatly. Now that they are pretty big, he gives them a wide berth (might stalk them a little outside, but no serious attempts to run at them). Below is a pic of Jebus, one of our chicks a few months back, and our border collie Lexi.

We brought our cat home from the local humane society! She is a full breed Himalayan and her name is Blu. Bless her heart she is 15 years old. That's rather old for a cat don't you think? She doesn't get around like she use to and hardly has any teeth left and has trouble hearing. Not trying to sound mean but in ways it's a good thing she is old and has all the ailments of old age because when she was young and full of vinegar she was a great huntress! I could not begin to count the number of birds, mice and other small rodents once even a rabbit she'd 'deposit' on the steps of the front porch. She was always so proud of her catches! Even today, on occasion I'll find evidence as in feathers where she has killed a small wild bird.

If she was still young I would be very afraid to have my flock free ranging with her around.

I have one dog who's name is Duncan and he is a Scottish Terrier. Terriers always get a bad rap when it comes to chickens but I'll say so far as many months that we have had chickens he's not bothered one of them and stays away from them!

Here is Blu @ about 2 years of age!

This is Duncan. He is about 4 years old in this image.

Beautiful animals!
Yes 15 years old for a cat is old but they can live for over 18 years.
I think my cat is going to be like that, but she has never had health issues
My cat is too old to even think about killing anything plus shes fat as well lol
