All rocks are not created equal so always give you adult birds hen sized grit, Besides most granite is 15 to 35% limestone and if you only feed one, granite grit is a better choice than feeding oyster shells. Then I don't think that baby chicks are born with a gizzard full of grit so you definitely need chick grit to get your baby chicks off to a roaring start.
They won't over eat it.I just watched the chickens when I put out grit. They are avoiding all the food scraps they normally eat and eating the grit like food.
Very concerned. Can’t they overeat the grit?
BTW I checked out my soil, it has dirt, sand, peoples, larger rock. All kinds of choices, but when let out they don’t eat much of it. But then in pen with bowl of grit and they go crazy.
That's a grower size but should be fine. Normally chicken grit is 5/16" Since you have Bantams, I'm still thinking you're fine.3/16
