Hello BYC world,

I juice regularly and use the pulp in my composter, but sometimes it gets off balance and I have to stop throwing green material in it. Can I feed my chickens the pulp as well? I know that there is not much nutritional value left but it would not be the only thing I would feed them.

Thank you for your input.

I would as a treat. It's going to be high in fiber which they don't need much of but it will have some minerals and vitamins as well as a decent moisture content. Plus it's free. Just dump it in the run and let them tell you what they think of it.

I don't do as much juicing as I anticipated when I bought my juicer. But when I do, I feed the pulp to my chickens.

Yes, all that veggie pulp would be very good for them. Although, when we juice we save it all for soups and other recipes that use the pulp.

Blessings -
