I keep seeing that you shouldn't raise chickens and quail together. I'm wondering what you guy's thoughts are on having quail hutches inside the chicken yard - still isolated.

From what I've read, quail have to be confined 24/7.
Never heard of any disease quail might give to chickens,
but might be good to ask this question in the quail forum too.

It isn't that quails give diseases to chickens, but that chickens can give diseases to quail as the quail are somewhat less robust compared to chickens immunity wise. As long as you keep their pens clean and the quail hutches are where chicken debris can't fly in, eg, feathers and poop, the quail should be fine.

Also wash your hands after handling the chickens before handling the quail as bacteria can transfer that way also. I take my button quail pens outside when the weather is good while the chickens are out and haven't had any disease incidents due to making sure no contaminants can get in the pens even with the chickens walking past the pens.
