It's true. It is now widely accepted that birds are modern day dinosaurs. The theropod line of dinosaurs branched off into birds. Some of them had wishbones. A lot of them even had feathers. We have found incredible fossils showing feather imprints, like this one:

I remember hearing on some documentary a long time ago that if you turned on/off a number of genes in chickens they’d have teeth and a tail (like a long flesh one).

They also have done an experiment to try to determine the way some dinosaurs walked with chickens, by attaching weight to them from birth to simulate the weight of a tail. The way they moved was very cool.
