Chickens are losing feathers

I have three hens and one lost a lot of feathers and grew some lovely pretty new feathers. now the other two chickens are going through the same thing but one of them is really weak, lighter than normal and sits somewhere looking pretty sorry for herself

Is this normal for Chileans? They are 4 years old and never lost feathers besides the occasional one from time to time.

I am not familiar with Chileans but it sounds like your birds are going through (or have been through) moulting.

For the one that seems somewhat lethargic, you can post over on the emergency/diseases forum and see what they think:

Hello and Welcome To BYC! X2 what NorthFlChick said, try posting in the Emergencies forum sounds like your flock was molting, but that your weak hen is also ill, hope she recovers.

Molting takes a lot out of a chicken physically, your hen may also be ill but, all would benefit from some extra protein to help build them up again. Hope your girl will be up to par soon. Does she have other symptoms?

Thanks for the welcome, chicken has not been eating but she finally drank water today after a little encouragement. She looks much better but is still not walking around or using her legs
