Make up a petition and go around with it and a chicken this very weekend...
When I did this, I also made up a map of where all the houses of the people that signed were and the ones who didn't and where the complainant lived...that helps too. And I sent a registered copy to the Mayor!
My two spoiled house chickens are MOST CERTAINLY pets!!!

Trap the neighbor( put a cat in for bait) and take her for a long ride out in the country OOOOHHHH never mind, I started having flashbacks

Pretty sure she's bluffing about the chickens thinking you will back off about the vet bill. Make sure you are on solid ground(legally) then stand your ground. She probably ain't that popular with the neighbors if you know what I mean.

Good luck, let us know how it is going...man i hate cities

Portland's chicken rules don't apply to Forest Grove. It's a different city, and in a different county. That being said, you may still be ok. The ordinance that you posted was pretty ambiguous. It applies to conditional use permits. You would have to get one if you wanted to start a truck farm in your backyard. You can't get one to raise livestock and poultry, but I would argue that what you are doing is NOT a commercial enterprise, therefore your chickens are just "ordinary pets"

If it were me I'd just wait and see what happens. Put the burden of proof on the city if they want to stop you from having chickens.

Also your neighbor seems like she's just trying to ruffle your feathers. Let's hope she's too lazy to take any real action with the city.

I live in Lake Oswego and they have no real rules about chickens, but if your neighbors file a nuisance report you get fined big time. I sometimes worry about being in the exact same situation that you're in.

Best of luck to you. I'll think good thoughts for you and your chickies

My dads wife had cats at her work walking on her nice truck.....she bought fox urine in the hunting isle and put drops around her truck and claims she never had cat prints again.

Now that we are continuing the "what do do to the cat" train of posting, I am closing this.
Sorry Rosy. Please post what you find out about keeping chickens. I am sending you a link to a local chicken group you might find of good use.
