My Mother, who has Alzheimer's, has lived with us for 4 years. As far as she is concerned, just about any animal is therapy, but she was always an animal lover. When we got our chickens last July she just thought they were great. But, every day (sometimes two or three times a day) she would tell us the story of her chickens she had growing up and her grandmother would go out to the coop occasionally and "dress one out" for dinner. So when we first got ours, she constantly would worry about them and I would hear her talking to them, "poor babies...." stuff like that. It took me a while but I finally convinced her that we had no plans to eat any of them. They were strictly for laying. Then she would always tell the story about her Aunt going to collect eggs one day and actually seeing a hen lay one. She never ate another egg after that. I'm not sure where she thought they were coming from before that....lol
She also goes to an Adult Daycare 3 days a week and they have a dog in there every day.
Anyway,

I read the entire thing and it is awesome. I watch this one video and saw how happy this old people were when they saw him. I need to start teaching this chick riding in a basket and car and wearing a apron...you know ll the good stuff. Once she is big enough i can take her out, i guess i start with petsmart trips and similar. But for know i can only hope she is really a pullet and wait for the two to feather out.
Her friend the CLB dutch always gets upset when i take her out and jumps after her and when i put her back the blue one gets herded back to the food. Roo sign for the CLB dutch? it also wears the tail higher than the self blue.
