I am very sorry that she died. You tried hard to save her. Be sure to check the vents of the other chickens for any stuck on droppings, which can attract flies. Minor wounds can also attract them as well. Spraying the coop and run with permethrin 10 can be helpful to reduce the fly population, as well as keeping bedding stirred and dry.

She was our only chicken, her companion died a couple weeks ago from a respiratory illness. They were best friends, I’m just glad they’re reunited now. I’ll definitely be trying to reduce the fly population though, cause I never want to deal with Flystrike again. Thank you for your advice!

I'm so so sorry about your girl !!! Is it a rectal prolapse that the maggots are on ???

I have no idea, it kinda seems like it. I’ve dealt with prolapses on animals, that’s exactly what it looked like. I’m just stuck feeling like I could’ve helped her. I kept bathing her and picking off maggots, but I think they had already infested her insides. I don’t know how she got them on her so fast, I was down there the night before. But anyways, I’m thankful she’s finally at peace.
