my chickens are dying in their shells. They pip and peep but due before they get out. I am not incubating. The mom is sitting on the eggs. This is the same location another hen successfully hatched 4 eggs about two weeks earlier. Is there anything I can do?

Thank you for your reply. The only change is yes it is hotter. I have also learned too late that I should have limited the eggs she is sitting on. All the hens shared a common area of nesting. She is sitting on way too many eggs, some of which I am guessing several others have contributed to. She has one that has hatched but she is not leaving the nest. I am bringing feed and water to the hen and see the hatched one eating.

She won't continue to sit more than another day or two. That's because her obligation is with the live chick not the eggs.
Since there was a staggered hatch from other hens contributing eggs most will fail since she can't take care of a live chick and sit on eggs for 23.5 hours a day.
In the future, mark all eggs under a broody and remove volunteers.
When a hen has too many eggs under her (there are eggs that peek out), most will fail because they will cool as she continues to turn eggs and tuck them under her. Every day, there will be a few eggs that chill.

Perhaps you could save some by stealing the pipped eggs from the nest and make a high humidity temporary box for assisting them to hatch and dry, then give back to mom?
