Chickens carry tons of diseases... (CPS alert!)

Chickens, and dogs, and cats, and bunnies, and if I'm not careful she wants a grazing animal next. She is asking for a pygmy milking goat pair for next year. Goodness. She has her sights set on going to Oklahoma State University for the veterinary program and I'm just trying to make sure that she has everything at her disposal to make that goal a reality. After 5 years of wanting to be a vet I guess she might not change her mind :p And if she does, well she still learned a lot about animals, life, science, and math. Yup we use math at this here backyard farm.

We went to Zamzow's today, which is an Idaho animal, garden, and yard store that produces their own feed and fertilizers. As we were coming in a gal at the check out started chatting with Madi because of her crutches. She asked what kind of pet she has and Madi proudly said "I have chickens!" and the gal said that she wanted backyard chickens, and her husband was like "oh no no no no chickens" and I told him "really, chickens are excellent pets, they are fairly easy to take care of once you have them set up and they can be pretty loyal and loving too." He stopped and looked at me for a minute. Then he said "really?" and I said yup. His wife said she grew up on a farm and had chickens her whole life and she really wanted some now. She asked Madi if she planned to show her chickens, and Madi told her yes, and she said "good girl you're just like me" It was really cool.

Yes that is very true. You have to prove your innocence and they hold the ball. You have to comply with them or be accused of being non-compliant. I'm going to insist my lawyer come over when they do finally show up. I'm looking into laws regarding video or audio recording. I know in my state only one party needs to be aware of the recording.

how can those beautiful white chickens be looked at as a health threat. People have house hens for gods sake, I kept my chicks in the house until they were 8 weeks old, tell the jerk that, we all do. Children raised with farm animals have less allergies than sterilized children, those poor kids who have to wash their hands with sanitizer every 20 minutes! and moms who walk around with clorox wipes in hand, those are the kids that are in danger of chemical poisioning and weak immune systems. go figure, he had better not come to my house and see all the chicken poop my shoes bring in each day, he may have to remove my cats and dogs to protect their well being. sorry you have to deal with this.

I have not read the entire thread because it was just making me ill.

Lawyer up! Don't talk to anyone or do anything without a lawyer. No one comes into the house without a warrant.

Best of luck.

I absolutely agree with this. They also cannot interview your daughter out of your presence without a warrant. You just turn them away politely while asking for the warrant as you have your attorney on the phone.

Wow. This is just nuts. I'm trying to get CPS to come to my neighbor's house where they NEED to be and now I find out why they can't seem to make it. They're too busy worrying about your child, who is obviously in danger with those nasty chickens in your disgusting bathroom.

Something is very wrong with this world.

I remember my mother constantly feeding me worm medication because I liked to share (cat) food with the barn cats as a child. My sister used to sleep with chickens in her bed at night. I guess we should have been taken away and put in a foster homes?

I hope they leave you alone and make it over to my neighbor's house soon.

Good luck.

Actually, this is very untrue.

They can and will, if they "feel" there is an issue. I speak from experience
