Chickens clucking

At what age do chickens switch from chirping to clucking? My chicks are mostly RIR at about 3 months old. Just curious.

I think it depends on the individual, but probably between 3 and 4 months, you'll start hearing their voice change.

I think mine were about 4 months old. I miss the peeps!

I used to get so annoyed with the peeps after spending much time in the coop (they were very nervous and noisy, and the more nervous they got, the noisier they got!). Now I miss the peeps. Mine are just over 18 weeks and they have been giving little clucks for a while. The roosters crow A LOT and the girls also make a weird call in addition to the clucking. I'm not sure what they're doing exactly, but it's not clucking and it's kinda like they are trying to crow or something. It's weird. I hope they stop though, or at least start laying eggs. It'd be much less annoying if they were laying. Then I'd let them do whatever they want and not care a bit.
