Chickens don't like watermelon?????

Took mine 2 days before they would eat watermelon. Since then, they always eat it down to the rind pretty quick.

The first time I gave mine watermelon, they did the same thing. Then I threw in some corn (or something I knew they like), and once they got started they loved it! Now they come running if they see me walk out with a rind. Smear on a little yogurt, and I bet they'll go crazy for it!

My chickens love watermelon. They also devour the rind!

Mine love it. I have found that they tend to be a bit leary of anything new though so what I do now is sprinkle a bit of their scratch on any new treat I give. The greedy little monsters eat it all up once I started doing that.

Since I'm new (wait and later you'll find I don't bother) I chop it up and they eat the rind too.

It's only 44 at my house right now. I should be out getting the flower beds out front squared away so I can work on the garden this weekend (dh is supposed to get it fenced for me) but it's so cold and wet I'm in here playing on byc instead.

I have't tryed the watermellon yet,just today gave them a head of cabbage-they don't care about it at all. Through them a cup of whole corn and they go crazy.Happy little hens.My wife says I spoil them -yep I do.

Mine didn't like watermelon, either. But next time I'll sprinkle some BOSS over it.... that might stimulate some interest.

Mine didn't eat the watermelon at first but I left it and later I found it all eaten but the rind. I left the rind out and then next morning it was full of ants and they ate all the ants. Mine don't eat worms of all things, they liked the crickets though....
