The ducks are 6 weeks. My chickens range from 4 months to 10 months. We are in Virginia. It's going to be 97 today. It's quite hot here

So you won't have to worry about frozen water.

I don't have water fowl, but have read they can make quite a mess that's not so great for chickens.

I don't put feed or water in any of our coops, it keeps them clean that way

That's good, but in the runs it can be a problem too.

I have 3000 sq ft for 10 chickens and 5 ducks. I'm increasing it next week to 8,000 sq ft. That should be good, right?

We are going to make one that has a pump. Draining it won't have to happen too often with the pond pump size we are getting, but we have a siphon that's for big fish tanks we can use to drain it.

Depends on how quickly the poop builds up.
