Chickens dying

Thanks. I did the corid orally tonight and will add to water starting tomorrow. The smaller coup said it was for 8 chickens we had 7 and now that 2 have died we have 5. We def thought it seemed small but they get to roam out inthe gate during the day and I keep all windows open. i also change the bedding the upper coup every other day. The older girls coup is large and there are 6 in there but they are bigger. Picture attached. this was before we added their fence around. We originally got the big coup so that we could combine them but because we lost one we never let them interactView attachment 1614014
Interaction doesn’t matter at that close range.
As far as virus transmission is concerned, they are close enough to breathe each other’s breath and inhale one another’s dander.

Thats what I assumed. Picture attached is of the older girls. I was planning on putting the corid in their water as well just to be safe.. Thoughts? They have not shown any sign of illness or bad health. We have 6 and they were ordered online not from tractor supply.

Check for blood in the poop. I lost two to coccidiosis before I noticed the blood. I looked it up and treated the rest by adding Corid (available at Tractor Supply) to the water as prescribed and didn't use the eggs produced for a few days after treatment ended. They are all fine. Sorry I didn't catch it immediately. My first hatched chick was the second to die. She was a favorite for all of us.... I also cleaned and disinfected the coop as I read should be done. I used ammonia, not clorox because I read it kills cocci. I think I caused the problem by throwing them treats in a small yard where they also pooped. I have a group in a larger yard that I never had this problem with, but the yard to the nicer coop is small. I plan to add to it.

Thanks for all of the help. I cleaned everything today and added corid to each flocks water after I bleached the containers. Happy to say the ill looking ones from last night did not pass away. I am keeping my eye but hope I am headed in the right direction. This is them today and this evening. The coup is 45 with the heat lamp. Funny thing is that it is 10 degrees warner tonight then it has been yet they are under the lamp tonight which they dont normally do.

Is that a 250 watt red heat lamp bulb? All heat lamps should be at least 18 inches from the tops of the heads. That would be way too much heat and too close if you are using 250 watt lamps. Can you get a 60 watt incandescent light bub to use while trying to wean the heat? There have been threads where chickens have had 3 rd degree burns from being too close to heat lamps. I am glad that your sick chickens lived through the night, amd hope they continue to get well.

I will check on the other kind of light. This is the one tractor supply gave me..Al's it looks closer than it is. They cant reach it unless the flew up to it
