Chickens eating eggs

I have no way to make roll away boxes either is there any other options?

It does not have to be hard or require a lot of skills. I saw some made with paint trays. or buy them?

I had/have at least two egg eaters and I have roll out boxes, I improved them by increasing the pitch and making it harder/further away for hen to reach under and pull out eggs. I still get the odd egg eaten since the improvements and i think the culprit will actually catch the egg before it rolls away! That being said I was losing 2-3 a day now its maybe one a week and its been almost two weeks since I lost one. Maybe they have given up...

Good luck

I always give my chickens one or two eggs a day. I have never had an issue with them eating them before I can get to them. I guess bc they know I'll share. My chickens loooove eggs. But they always wait for me to give to them. It's like a treat to them. I guess it's an unspoken mutual agreement we have lol. It's pretty funny bc I know they want it. When I collect they eggs they come running from where ever they are and huddle up waiting for me to drop one lol

I fed my egg eater scratch grain and cracked corn when she was separated from the flock in a cage. I wanted to disrupt her laying so she would stop eating her own eggs. My fat ladies eat very well and also free range.
Had she been laying prior to confinement...or was she eating others eggs?

I had this issue when my latest flock of large breed hens first started laying back in 2017 and gave them a bowl of milk... end of problem. Now when I notice thin shelled eggs, I give them a bowl of milk and within a couple of days the shells are noticeably more robust. This while providing oyster shells free choice at all times. And the hens love the milk by the way.

I have 3 egg eaters :( 1 is a mild case and the other two are horrible! Any time they see an egg they RUN and start pecking it even when it's still under the hen! I have 5 fake eggs (1 per nest box) they have high protein food with unlimited oyster shells and they free range all day with plenty of toys filled with treats and scraps fed. I'm worried my other girls will start learning. I've tried mustard in the shells and they loved it :( they ate all three fully within about 3 minutes. I don't know why but it's only my black copper marans and all 3 of them. I have two coops but one has chicks in it currently and can't put adults in with them. I have no way to make roll away boxes either is there any other options? The least horrible I found a home for but the other two I don't feel comfortable about rehoming. The "least horrible" only eats eggs from one of my pullets and she hasn't eaten any in the past 2 weeks since I was off and able to collect that pullets eggs when she laid. The other two are much more obsessed with eggs. I have no clue what to do :/
What a bummer! Once they learn to do something like that, I don’t think you can untrain them. The only thing you can do is change their nest boxes so the eggs drop out in the back. I think you will have to find a way to do that. I wouldn’t rehome them unless you tell the person what they do.

I did successfully un-train two of mine this way. I blew out the insides of a few eggs for my kids to have scrambled eggs. I mixed mustard with cayenne pepper or sriracha and used one of those kids medicine syringe things to put the spicy mustard back in the eggs. I would gather the eggs quickly, leaving the two ceramic eggs (one painted brown and the other blue) and one spicy egg. I kept the others in the fridge and replaced them as they pecked the eggs open and tried to eat the yellow goo in the middle. After 4 or 5 days they stopped. This has worked twice.
