Chickens eating styrofoam-What do I do?

After watching the girls freerange for awhile, I just figured out that some of my chickens are eating exposed styrofoam that I can't remove. Or cover or anything. It is just there.


Should I not eat the eggs for awhile??? That is my concern.

I don't want them to stop freeranging, but it looks like I just might have to. I don't know what else to do.

I need to go back and see if more chickens are doing it. What a bummer.

Chickens love styrofoam. It's like candy to them.

I once had my rooster eat half of a styrofoam cube and I found him with little styrofoam balls stuck all over his head and neck.

I wouldn't worry about it, I just keep on eating the eggs from them. It doesnt decompose in them as I find smaller pieces of styrofoam at the other end. No ill effects here yet.

My chickens eat styrofoam..... I guess it came from potting soil or something the previous owner of the house put in his garden. At first, I was freaking out because I thought it would get clogged in the chickens but it seems to go right through without any problems.

My girls devoured a whole bunch of packing peanuts. They are still here today. It seems to have no ill effects. I wouldn't add it to their feed though

Crazy chickens will eat about anything. When we first cut the pop door to our coop all the chickens wanted to come and try to eat the insulation that is between the walls. I had to duck tape the space up quickly until we could frame it out, b/c they were attracted to it like a magnet. Ive also caught them scratching around in my flower pots trying to eat the vermiculite, so I had to move them out of their reach.

I have run across several emergency posts and warnings from ppl who have had complications in their chickens from eating styrofoam... please try and remove or cover access to it.
