Oh- you said the flap. I'm gonna watch it. The edge of the flap looks to be dying off so I don't think it would do any good. I don't think it will ever be perfect again but like I said the vent itself wasn't compromised so I don't think there's any way it could heal that would end up obstructing anything..

Good job!
Dont stress about eggs, she'll lay off laying (usually) for a lil while, while her system concentrates on healing. But if she's pooping, she shouldn't get bound up. Being down there like you were you probably would have noticed the lump if she was bound up due to being close to lay before attack.

Yeah I was going to suggest packing it next, with the little strips of gauze you can get. As for the flap, yeah I think you just just let it dry up and then snip it off or something. My rooster had holes of skin missing (you could see the muscle fascia) and he grew skin incredibly fast. Within a week primitive skin was already covering the muscle . They are remarkably fast healers!

Stress will usually cause them to stop forming eggs, so I wouldn't worry about that right now . If she starts feeling better she should leave you a nice little present saying so, haha!

Thanks! It's raining here now so I put a blanket over the sides of her kennel that face outside so she doesn't catch a draft on her bum..

Gave her some fresh food and she dove in, slinging it as she goes. Gave her some leftover mashed potatoes also. Hubby came out to check on her too while I was out there, but don't tell him I told y'all that.

Oh and I also wrangled The Other Five into the coop early. We will start practicing this now.

It looks great! Good job keeping it clean....Nice pink color, and seems like her will to live and fight off infection are STRONG! That's 1/2 the battle if you ask me! Hang in there, thinking about you both...

Rhoda was up with the Roos this morning, pecking at her food and looking very happy. I didn't have time to look at her bum so I just put down clean paper and freshened her water. Will post this evening on wound progress.
