Chickens getting sick and dying??

Hello
You say to give the chickens. Apple Cider vinegar at 4 teaspoons per gallon. To get rid of a pretty wide range of stomach problems. And to clear mucas from the throat.
I have heard of apple cider and copper sulfate in the water. As prevention of catching some disease or viral and bacterial infections.
I to have had the problem with this diarrhea. Only on spotty occasions. But it seems to be worse in the fall and winter.

I have always called the greens. And maybe it is sometimes the white diarrhea. But the chickens do get very skinny and loose weight a very face pace.
So I will try the ACV. Hopefully that will fix this problem.

Every ought to be usin' the ACV at this rate (but never in galvanized metal containers). It seems to be the tannins from the apple that do most of the benefit, but the Acetic Acid Bacteria (AAB) may prove to be beneficial as well. For certain, neither one can do your birds any harm.

The conditions you're describing sound like they could be having trouble w/ coccidia. Birds can become immune to normal exposure to those they are, but overwhelmed by them when there's too many, of affected severely by one they haven't been exposed to before.

It could also be that grains can have aflatoxins on 'em, and that molds/mildew increase during the winter months, and the added stress of the cold on the flock ... could also be worms that are causing your troubles.

The ACV certainly will help, but you could also begin adding diatomaceous earth to their food (just a little ... maybe a tablespoon per pound or so). Yogurt is also very beneficial, as the live cultures can help set their digestive systems back on the right track (about a tablespoon per bird per day at least every now 'n then ~'-)

OP are you still there? OP hasn't returned to the thread lately....hello how are they doing now?
