My chicks will only say in the run they won't go up the ladder to there coop. Any suggestions on how to get them in the coop. I've placed them in the coop but they also won't go done the ladder out of the coop.

Try giving them treats like table scraps or something in and out of the coop. Did you orientate them to them coop? If not just don't let them out of the coop for a week or two and they will relies thats their home.

Hi and welcome to BYC. I usually keep new birds confined to the coop for 48 hours - I've never had an issue with them not knowing where "home" is. As long as you can assure that you will be able to let the chickens out of the coop at daybreak, then theres no need for food or water in the coop. The light is not necessary - better to let them live "naturally" - sleep when its dark and do their thing when its light.
