Chickens in the rain

It's been storming like crazy. We are still working on our chicken coop, but we currently have our chicken run. Half covered with tarp and the other half open for sun during the day. Most of our chickens are chosing to stay on the uncovered side in the rain all night! They have the choice to go under the tarp, but they won't go under it! They're completely wet. I can't do anything else because if i cover both sides with tarp, they won't have any sun during the day. Are they okay?

Sometimes chickens will avoid protection because of the noise, movement, temperature and lack of space. Tarps are noisy during storms. They flap about, the rain beats on it like a drum and that can terrify chickens.
