I want to have 2 chickens in a 3x3 coop and a 3x4 run. I would leave the coop door open 24/7 so they can access outside as they wish, but is the run even big enough for the permanent residence of two chickens? I don't have enough space to provide them new grass so this is my only option. How should I manage the coop differently because of this (ex. more hay) ?

a good general guidelines is 4 square feet of house space and 10 sq feet of run space if they never get out of the run.

You have coop 3x3 = 9 square feet that's good for 2 hens. Run 3x4 = 12 sq feet, this would be tight if they never get out to free range. By any chance is the coop raised? That would give them plenty of room.

Good luck

Yeah It will probably be raised. Will my chickens live well even if they have torn up everything?
