Those boxes look same as the one ours was sent in too, lol...
A week gives enough time for lockdown, hatch, stragglers and cleanup before next goes in... BYC910 sets weekly and I have sometimes too...

And you nailed it on the costs! Yes, they're pricey, but if you want quality you save more in the long run using the best you can first...

So you hatch in the same bator? Interesting.... I think I have room for that in Frankenbator.

No, I actually have separate bator and hatcher now... I clean the hatcher between each set though... a week gives you 3 days til hatch day, 2 days for stragglers, 1 day for cleaning and 1 day running before next set goes in...
I used to only have one and have done it in same one, but it's harder to clean up hatching mess when you still have other eggs set... doable, but harder...

Ravyn, I'm not sure if you are around today, but I think I figured out the look on the SLWxLav chicks.

I think they will be all black since they should carry the black EE and SLW are ebeb. I am guessing of course that the black Ee+ is dominant in phenotype to silver Ss+. In theory the chicks would have one E and one S. Does that sound right?
Ravyn, I'm having second thoughts about the Ee+ black being dominant over the Ss+. S silver is a red inhibitor. I'm wondering if they will still be laced even with an E gene. Did you ever ask your genetics guru friend about it?

I did and posted to you about it somewhere back a bit, lol... she said she *thinks* they will be laced, but very smutty... so might not be able to tell chicks apart at hatch, but if you are growing them out they will become very apparent as their lacing will be horrible...
Her disclaimer is that it's been a long time since she bred laced birds, btw, so not 100% sure...
Oh, and that's where SC's smutty black laced chicks jokes came from, lol...

That's right. Thank you for the reminder. I just got confused because I read on another thread that extended black is dominant over silver. I guess if I grow them out I will know.

All good, I get confused often, lol... and all I've seen and heard is that Lav crossed with other colors comes out black anyways... but when the waters get muddy is hard to predict anything...
If you were gonna sell the chicks, I wouldn't mix them but if you are growing them out then I wouldn't worry about it...

Not for selling. This is a special long term project.

Glad you finally got those birds you've been trying so long for
