Chickens In Ya Window

Here is my random musing for the day before I get back in the middle of the mess. I never thought I would get to the point in my life where I would be watching Modern Family, where the dad is hatching duck eggs on a desk under a lamp, and say to my wife "that would never work".
By the way, if you have some moral reason for not watching that show, you need to chill out. It's funny as crap

These SLW from Foley are even more amazing in real life than I ever imagined. Their type is amazing and the lacing is stunning. I could stare at them all day long. These are just crappy quick iphone shots before I had to run off to work.

Look at the type on this boy and the lacing all the way down the hocks!

Look at this lacing down the back of the pullet!

Look at how round they are from the front and side.

This is why I keep chickens!
Those are some great looking birds!

I can see where both of them are going to develop very nicely! So when will you try some of her eggs? Nice that she laid one on the way to you. Hopefully she won't stop. And I do see the difference in the new one vs. the hatchery grade. That's kinda sad isn't it?

The more I look at the pics, the more similarities I see with my sebrights. Very nice birds.
I'm going to try to get some side by side pics as soon as they get settled. That is a long time in a small box for LF.

Thank you!

What carrier did they use? And do you think they were handled well for the trip? I don't see alot of people shipping/receiving birds that old, so I'm just curious.

Those are worlds away from the "SLW" I once had from McMurray. Beautiful birds!

Morals what are those . didn't realize they were required for construction workers . I will however check the hand book to see the rule on that. wife is a Wednesday night nut . I missed last night though . Invoices and cooking were more important . one of the drawbacks of the self employed . not even supposed to be here. I just printed them off and need to take them to Nashville like right now . thought I'd pop in for a minute .any how glad things are getting over there. back at it tomorrow another hard weekend .

Glad you're getting caught up at work... btw, there is a link back in Oz's thread where an Aussie hatched a wood duck using a lamp in their office, lol... ;)
That show is funny. I like it a lot. But I have not seen it in a couple years now. Ravyn!!!!!! Eggs are in Nashville! I can't wait for the next update. Lol!!!!
:celebrate
Yup, definitely feel mixed about it. They are not in the best of health and if they are here, we can make sure they go shopping and get to Doctor appointments, etc., Unfortunately my mother and I get along better when there are several states between us. Since they are moving into a del Webb community, she should be able to set up a new social empire and be happy. (And leave me alone) . LOL, I haven't turned the tv on in months, except for a football or baseball game now and then. Glad you found a show that helps you relax!
I drive his dad to Nash all the time for his appts, it is good to know we can help them with things like that... only issue is his mom is very high anxiety... she freaks out over every little thing... and keeps saying we have too many chickens... and dear lord, are those chicks in the HOUSE???? :gig

They are absolutely gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see the chicks from those!! Easiest way to stagger is pick a day of the week to set and just set weeks eggs that day every time...it's a PITA, but worth it... :thumbsup

Actually, most serious breeders will only ship out birds that old... they rarely sell eggs and grow everything out til it's old enough to evaluate before selling since you never want to sell your best, you keep those for breeding forward... that's how you keep improving your birds... and all shipping of live birds has to go USPS and in special boxes, no other carriers allow live shipments... Because of the cost of the birds, box and shipping a lot of people don't like to buy that way... but if you are serious about quality birds and want better than hatchery, you gotta be willing to pay for it... We drove 6hrs one way to pick up the Calls and Ohiki because it would've cost more for the boxes and shipping for all them... and that was a lot to have her pack up, lol...
