Ive been looking at those geese in the Murry McMurry cataloge, theyre stunning! And common! Please share?! Really i hope i have too many baby cayuga to worry about Anything else :)
I saw that when i searched the glass house, interesting, its apparently pretty popular. Might have to see if i can get it soon...
Very few! Who realizes what theyre fav band does for fun?! Nobody! Most rock musicians are nerds outa this world and it makes me all warm an fuzzy :D
The Glass Castle is good, but seriously hit too close to home for me.
"Ramble On" is all about the ring. "Misty Mountain Hop" makes a few references, too

Has anyone read "crank?" Im sure u havent SC but i just thought of it; that one gave me the chills for a lil while. Story of a honor roll 16 yr old girl, falling into meth addiction on a summer vacation to her dads place...

I hafta add a funny: i was in prison when i read the 50 shades trilogy... Most terrible thing to read behind bars!

I was prepared to hate the movies, but I thought they did a pretty good job, too. (And who could hate Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn?). Was happy they published The Silmarillion but it's so complicated I feel like I need to take notes.

Typo above, meant to say Frank Herbert,

Viggo

You just can't get SQ prices around here. Maybe if you wanted to sit on them for a while, but when I'm ready to sell, I'm ready to sell. Pullets of almost any breed will bring $12-15 each, but that's about it. You can't hardly give roosters away. POL hens will go around $25, but I never keep them that long. I will probably ask $20 for Am pullets, but I'm hoping to sell the chicks straight run because it takes me so long to sex them. I have 3 people waiting for me to start hatching right now, so maybe the chicks will sell quickly

I wish I had someone waiting for me to start hatching. I'd be hatching!

Prices are all over the place around here.

But maybe its because I'm not a good judge of quality from pics.

So many people around here just want chickens that lay large eggs. The color of the eggs helps, but $15 is maxing it out for an 8 week old pullet. A lot of people sell Comets (sex links) for $10 and under. Once people see the farm and the setup, I get a lot of repeat business, but most of my advertising right now is on CL. The average person here would see a $10 easter egger and a $30 Paul Smith ameraucana and say "Flock that guy"

In my local Uncle Henry's mag (a local weekly buy and sell publication) hens are selling for $2/ea. Of course, you get what you pay for. They're probably riddled with lice and 3 years old. Not worth selling them if you can't sell for a decent price. I'd rather keep them, and sell the eggs.

After a while, you can tell the good local ads from the bad ones. I try to take up close pics to show as accurately as I can what the birds really look like. You see chickens here for $2, too, but there is either no pic, or the picture is a group shot taken through a fence. Usually the trailer and El Camino are visible in the background

I think $15 is cheap for some of my birds, but I also don't haggle that price. If someone wants 6 or more birds, I will drop to $12, but I won't go below $15 for less than that. I'm not competing in price with the guy down the street with the barnyard mixes. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the mixes, but my birds are worth more. This was my first year hatching and selling, and I have a calling list for next year, so hopefully I won't have to do CL forever

The guy i called this AM had text me and asked me about BrEAKING a hens wing, so she wouldnt fly off! I immediatly responded that i absolutly Would Not break anyones wings but i would be more than happy to help him get off to a good start. Hes never had chickens but he breeds cooker spaniels, so he had an understanding of the puppy mill situations that alot of birds are placed in. It was then easy to push him in the right direction. Im saying, use your nice clean set-up as a tool... As well as how your bloodlines are better. Good people do respect how well the parent stock is. I think education about our food and where it comes from helps too. Like: If you posted how your girls will produce for years and years vs 2 years for those hybrids... I tend toward the more in depth ads on CL, i like how those sellers will put info on their flocks out, especially when its Correct info ;)

Enough! I know nothing, i am only a child ;)
