Btw, BYC asked me to post this... this is a cage made out of the casing of an old window air conditioner unit... it sold for 15 bucks!!

Can I ask how much you can sell a rooster for at auction?

I'm not sure. I had a big ol' glass of pure lemon juice yesterday

Passed something during the night, but not a stone. Something kind of gritty, but I could roll it into a ball. Seemed more like tissue. At any rate, I'm not hurting this morning, so

he worked yesterday so I had to clean it up!

I soaked as much as I could with towels and covers and washed them and repeated and repeated then finally sprayed with Fabreze but it still smells. oh and had the ceiling fans on and all other fans I could drag down on it too. Its a tan carpet so I may attempt a rental cleaner with a tad bleach before I rip it out, mom just said she heard of that at cabins so we can attempt it at a last resort.

kids stuff I dont care about, they have enough other stuff upstairs yet. the couch cushions are not washable or bleachable as its chocolate in color. it WAS brand new!!! wonder if homeowners would cover anything, I think I can at least call and talk to them Monday
We have had luck with using a shop vac to get most the water out and then renting some drying fans. You have to drape the carpet up on something like a buckets or back of chairs and let it dry all the way out.

So she is trying to make it right by talking to a friend of hers who is closer to me and seeing if she is willing to trade 2 legbar hens for my 2 alsteirer hens.
Sorry to hear about the mixed up eggs Rossfam.

Final update on my hatch last week. 12 hatched out of 14 good eggs. One did expire already. It pipped externally and then dried out so we helped it out. It had curled feet. It died a day later. So we have 11 new chicks on the ground. I need to get a good pic of the group. 6 yellow, 5 Marans chick color (one died) and 1 grey chick patterned like a Marans. Interesting. And a few of them have feathered shanks.

Of the eggs left I did candle them and one had internally pipped. Sad too, you could see the scratches on the inside of the egg where it failed to pip externally. I'm just not going to look or help anymore. I'm going full blue from now on. It sucks to have the kids see the curled footed chicks scream and then finally die.

ETA: I think the two had issues from the temp drops.

SW - sounds like you had a great hatch! Can't wait for pics.
I consider it an OK hatch. I know it would have been better if my thermostat did not crap out. The old thermostat also had a degree swing of 3-4 degrees. I think that caused the curled feet. I have the new thermostat for the next hatch though.

That's what I meant - despite your temp swings, you still had a lot of healthy chicks. Pretty good for the circumstances.

Saw this on FB. I love ingenious ways of repurposing!
OMG!!! I love it!!! I am going to have to do this.
:gig :frow Hi everybody. The last 16 hours have been :hit, but I got an appointment this morning, got a refill, and now I'm all :D It's holding firm right at the entrance to the tunnel
I feel so bad for you right now. I wish there was something that I could do to help you. I hate seeing people in pain. It brings out the compassionate part of me.
